Testing (continued):
PCMark Vantage (64-Bit):
The hard drive suite from
FutureMark's PCMark Vantage (64-Bit) was run next, and a half dozen of the individual results provided were selected to be displayed in the review. Each test provides results with units in terms of MB/s, where higher is better.
The first graph shows their simulation of Windows Vista booting, where the Momentus XT starts out in the same ball park as the 5400RPM drive, but after five runs it nearly doubles the transfer rates recorded. This is the type of performance I was looking to see with adaptive learning!
In the Windows Media Center portion of the test, the Momentus XT starts out a good deal higher than the 5400RPM drive, but the adaptive memory doesn't let it gain much over the five runs (about 9%).
In the portion of the test described as "Importing Pictures to Windows Photo Gallery", the Momentus XT performs about two to three times better than the 5400RPM drive, but sees only about a 10% improvement with repeated exposure.
