The Basics:
In lieu of a cap or retracting USB connector, here we have a swiveling U-shaped shield intended to protect the drive.
When not in use you can turn the shield to protect the USB connector, and it stays in place fairly well, although it doesn't have a very tight fit. When opened for use, the overall length of the drive becomes a bit longer than a typical USB flash drive, but it isn't large by any means.
While Kingston has printed their logo, icon, and other relevant bits of text on the drive, the appearance is still simple and clean. The drive's internals are geared for more of a business environment, and the outward appearance definitely doesn't spoil that.
The quality and feel is definitely of something that has been well designed and made. So many flash drives feel flimsy and as if they'll snap in half if you don't treat them just right. While I wouldn't call the DataTraveler Locker+ rugged, it is definitely more so than a high percentage of other flash drives on the market.
Connecting the miniature lanyard wound up being the only tricky part of using this drive. There is a pair of small holes in the curved portion of the U-shaped bracket and I assumed that this is where it must go. It takes a bit of patience to get it looped through there, and while I don't have big hands they were far too large to handle this task well.
