Conclusion:
After using the LG Flatron W2340VG 23-inch widescreen LCD monitor for a few weeks, the first word to come to my mind is impressive. Out of the box, the monitor is bright and the colors are deep and rich. If you feel the need to tweak things a bit anyway, the on screen menu controls couldn't be any easier. Add the glossy and sleek design to all of that, and this monitor would make a perfect addition to anyone's computer desk. And while the performance and aesthetics would allow it to pass for new, you are saving money since this unit has been refurbished.
Despite all of the positives regarding this monitor, it isn't without flaws. The LG W2340VG cannot be raised up or down at all on the stand, the monitor can only be tilted. Another small item to mention is that this monitor doesn't have internal speakers. While most monitor speakers aren't the best, it is sometimes nice to have that availability or option.
As mentioned already, this monitor is a refurbished item. When purchasing a refurbished item you run the risk of getting the item with a few imperfections, but you also are buying the item at a fraction of the cost that it might be brand new. New items of course come with a full manufacturer warranty (while this one is just 90 days), but you end up paying a premium. When going with a refurbished item you can save yourself a lot of money for close to the same quality as a new item.
Presently the LG Flatron W2340VG 23-inch widescreen LCD monitor is out of stock at
Geeks.com, although they do have other
23 inch lcd monitors. Geeks.com has an auto notify feature and will email you if/when an item becomes available and in stock again. So if you aren't in a hurry you can put your name on the contact list. Geeks.com price is $159.99, which is much less than the new price at places like
Tigerdirect.com ($229.99), and
Newegg.com ($189.99).
Considering the price, the impressive quality of the image, and the on screen controls, the LG Flatron W2340VG 23-inch widescreen LCD monitor receives the Bigbruin.com "Good Value" and "Recommended" awards!
