Testing:
For testing purposes we will run through a pair of benchmarks,
Crystal Disk Mark and
ATTO DISK Benchmark to get an idea how this drive performs. All tests below were done with the included USB C to USB cable and connected to a USB 3.0 port.
Before getting to that data, looking at
Crystal Disk Info shows that the drive inside is a 5400 RPM Seagate unit.
CrystalDiskMark 5.1.2 x64:
This benchmark provides results to detail the drive's read and write performance in units of measure of MB/s (higher values are better). The first graph shows the sequential read results, where we see that the LaCie achieved 125.8 MB/s which was the fastest in this grouping.
When it comes to sequential writes, the LaCie again was on top with a speed of 125.6 MB/s which surprisingly is as fast as the read speeds.
And finally, we have results for 4K read and write testing. Here we see the LaCie was neck and neck with the WD My Passport Ultra with read speeds of 0.55 MB/s and write speeds of 1.45 MB/s.
