Conclusion:

Thanks to the MobileLite G3 memory card reader, the Kingston 16GB UHS-I 233X SDHC performs faster than any SDHC card I have ever tested. During testing, the Kingston card was able to prove that the speed boost provided by the UHS-I standard is impressive, and far faster than anything that was possible with USB 2.0. In fact, the drive was capable of read speeds of 63.74MB/s, which is even about 3MB/s faster than Kingston's rated speed. This is a great for being a first generation device, and I can't wait to see the future of the UHS cards, which have a maximum potential of 104MB/s!

In order to use the Kingston 16GB UHS-I 233x SDHC to it's fullest potential, you need two things. First a USB 3.0 port, and secondly a UHS compatible SD card reader. The Kingston MobileLite G3 is a great choice as it satisfies both of these points, while also boasting a very wallet friendly price.

Amazon.com happens to have both devices available for sale. The MobileLite G3 memory card reader is available for a very low price of $14.95 and puts this device as a must have for its portability, and fast transfer rates. The 16GB UHS-I 233x SDHC card is available for about $75 at Amazon. As much as I love the speed of this card, at this price it is hard to justify it for the average consumer. However, if you need the speed boost for large video files or raw pictures, this is a great option as the speed increase would be helpful.

Both the MobileLite G3 and the 16GB UHS-I 233X SDHC card warrant the "Highly Recommended" award, while the MobileLite G3 also deserves the "Good Value" award for its ultra low price.

Highly Recommended Good Value

Pros:

» Low cost USB 3.0 SD card reader
» Very fast transfer rates
» Ultra portable size

Cons:

» Availability
» High cost - SDHC UHS-I card is over $4.50 per GB
