In a recent review we took a look at the
myCharge Adventure JumpStarter; and while we thought it was a good idea we did have a few reservations based on performance and its feature set for the price. Recently we were contacted by
Limitless Innovations about their JumpSmart which has a lot of similar features, but comes in a different form factor. All of the jump starters I have seen appear to have their designs rooted in your typical power brick. They are rectangular and add additional connections to accommodate the needed functions. The JumpSmart takes a different approach and started with roughly a flashlight shape and built the jump starting platform around that. Overall it looks like an interesting concept, but let’s see how it really stacks up.
The Limitless Innovations JumpSmart was designed to jump start a 4 or 6 cylinder engine up to 4.0 liters in volume. But it has been recently tested by an independent lab to work on up to a 5.0 liter 8 cylinder (up to 2.0L Diesel)! The 4-mode (high, low, SOS, and strobe) 330 lumen output flashlight has an aluminum housing and inside you have a lithium polymer 37000 mWh battery. This battery is capable of outputting 200A, 400A peak via the jumper cables. Overall it seems capable by these specs, but below are additional features and specifications gathered from the manual and the website.

» Over-Charge Protection: This feature will not allow the JumpSmart to overcharge the vehicle battery when jumping.
» Over-Discharge Protection: This feature will not allow the vehicle battery to over discharge the internal
battery of the JumpSmart.
» Over-Temperature Protection: This feature will keep the JumpSmart cables from over-heating during a jump.
» Over Voltage Protection: This feature will not allow a vehicle battery to charge the JumpSmart after it’s
been successfully jump started.
» Low Input Voltage Protection: This feature will protect the internal battery of the JumpSmart by not allowing it
to jump a vehicle when the JumpSmart internal battery drops below 9V.
» Vehicle Battery False Voltage Protection: In some cases, the vehicle battery will still register 12V, but still
not start the vehicle. In this case it could be a false voltage reading on the battery. The JumpSmart will
recognize and still allow for a successful jump. Most jump start units will not recognize and assume the
vehicle battery is good at 12V and not allow for a jump.
» Vehicle Engine Voltage Protection: This feature protects the JumpSmart from over voltage.
» Timeout Protection: When the JumpSmart is connected to the vehicle battery for over 40-seconds, the
Smart Cable will shut down.
