Testing (continued):
PCMark Vantage x64:
FutureMark's PCMark Vantage (64-Bit) hard drive suite was the next set of tests to be executed on the collection of SSDs. Six of the individual results were selected to be displayed for comparison purposes, and each test provides results with units in terms of MB/s (higher is better).
"Application Loading" is the first portion of the benchmark that we'll review. The name implies that you are loading applications within Windows, which is typically a heavily read-oriented test. The Intel drive puts its 250MB/s rating to good use and surges to the head of the pack in this test.
The second chart from PCMark Vantage is for "Gaming". What I would consider the three fastest drives of the collection all put up results over 200MB/s, with the Intel drive finishing at 200.913MB/s.
The third chart is for "Windows Vista Startup", which is effectively a simulation of that operating system booting up. If boot time (within Windows Vista) is your main concern, the Intel X25-M 80GB is the drive for you as it is 22MB/s faster than any of the other drives!
