Conclusion:
It seems that I am constantly swapping hard drives in and out for testing, so a hard drive dock is extremely helpful. While other users might not need to do so at the same frequency, the
Ineo Technology I-NA320U Plus hard drive docking station could be a great tool to have if you need to access multiple hard drives and would prefer to avoid having to install them. The data transfer rates were impressive, and were just as fast as when the hard drive was connected directly to the motherboard's SATA connections. Everything you need to get up and running is included in the package, so using your spare hard drives as an external device with just about any system is very quick and easy.
While there isn't much to say on the negative side of things for the I_NA320U Plus, there are two features that would be a welcome addition. One would be to have an eject button to make removing drives a little smoother, and the other would be a visual indicator to confirm that the I-NA320U Plus is working correctly as a USB 3.0 Superspeed docking station. Neither of these are a requirement for the docking station to be successful, but more like value added features that other docks have.
A quick search with the
Bigbruin.com shopping engine doesn't turn up much presently, but looking elsewhere shows that
Amazon.com and
Newegg.com have the I-NA320U Plus hard drive docking station in stock for $43.99. USB 3.0 hard drive docks can easily be found for as low as $15.99 and as high as $56.99 with the same features, so the price is obviously closer to the high end of the scale.
Pros:
» Easy to use
» Good transfer rates
» Compatible with up to 3TB SATA III 6Gbps 2.5" and 3.5" drives
» Brushed aluminum housing is attractive
Cons:
» No eject button
» Lack of visual notification of USB 3.0 Superspeed connection
