Testing (continued):
Real World Transfers:
To analyze the real world performance of the
Ineo Technology I-NA320U, two tests were executed. Large file testing involved transferring a single 7.7GB ISO file, while small file testing involved transferring one folder containing 4.6GB of MP3 files. The first set of tests involved writing these files to the each configuration, while the second set of tests involved reading those same files back to a different location on the host computer. The speeds were timed with a stopwatch, which was started when the mouse button was released to copy the files. Lower is better for these tests.
Writing the large file to the drives shows that there is a mere one second difference between the I-NA320U Plus, the BlacX 5G, and the direct SATA connection. However, the Kingwin Dock Master is the slowest by 4 seconds.
Writing the MP3 files to the drives results in more than a second difference between the I-NA320U Plus, the BlacX 5G, and the direct SATA connection - this time it's 2 seconds! That is still a very small difference, and nothing I would be overly concerned about.
The I-NA320U Plus docking station was slightly faster than the competition when copying the 7.7GB ISO back to the computer, however it was only a second faster than the BlacX 5G and directly connecting it to the onboard SATA connections. This single second difference is really minor, however being 5 seconds faster than the Kingwin Dock Master isn't.
While reading the MP3 files, the I-NA320U Plus and BlacX 5G were on par, while the direct SATA connection was a second faster this time; again, so minor it's barely worth being concerned about. This time however, the I-NA320U Plus was 7 seconds faster than the Kingwin Dock Master.
