Conclusion:
The
Ineo Technology I-NA215U Plus USB 3.0 hard drive enclosure is a nice product that stands out in part thanks to its unique physical design. It offers performance on par with other USB 3.0 enclosures, which is very quick and close to three times faster than USB 2.0. Ineo didn't package many accessories with the I-NA215U Plus, but you really don't need much. The bundle includes a USB 3.0 cable and a tiny screw driver, which is necessary since the enclosure does not feature a tool-less installation. This makes installing your hard drive very quick and easy.
While technically there is nothing wrong with the enclosure, including an optional power connection would be a welcomed design change. Not all devices capable of using USB hard drives provide enough power over the USB connection to actually power a hard drive. While connected to a computer, the I-NA215U Plus got plenty of power over the USB 3.0 cable to function properly, but when using it while connected to a media player, I found that the drive would be recognized but it didn't receive enough power to spin the drive.
An online search finds the Ineo I-NA215U Plus USB 3.0 hard drive enclosure available from several popular retailers for less than $25 (US).
Newegg.com has it in stock for $24.99 (plus $3.99 for shipping), which isn't a bad price for a USB 3.0 enclosure. There are cheaper options, and of course there are plenty of more expensive ones, too. At the beginning of the review we mentioned that you can get this enclosure with a 750GB pre-installed, and this arrangement is actually a pretty good deal. The
Bigbruin.com shopping engine shows that Amazon.com offers this configuration for $89.95!
