Testing (continued):
SiSoft Sandra Professional 2009.9.15.122:
SiSoft Sandra was the next test suite executed on the drives on hand. From the large selection of tests available in Sandra, results for Drive Index (MB/s) and Random Access Time (ms) for reading and writing were compared. Higher values are better for Drive Index, while lower values are better for Random Access Time.
Here we again see a strong showing for sequential read performance, but less than stellar results for sequential write performance. What we also see is that while the access time is far better than the traditional hard drive, it lags behind the three other SSDs tested.
Everest Ultimate Edition 5.02.1756:
Lavalys' Everest Ultimate Edition has a hard drive benchmark I only discovered somewhat recently. The drive benchmark is hidden in a different location from the popular memory benchmark, but it is worth seeking out. In the chart below we have a variety of read test results (in MB/s), as well as an assessment of the average access time (in ms). Higher values are better for read results, while lower values are better for the average access time.
All results here are for read performance, and we see consistent performance in excess of 200MB/s. As with SiSoft Sandra, Everest also indicates that the access time on the Imation drive isn't as quick as the other SSDs.
