Testing (continued):
ATTO Disk Benchmark v2.41:
The next test executed on the drives was ATTO's Disk Benchmark v2.41. It was configured in a fairly standard manner, with the only adjustment being that the Queue Depth was increased to 10. Units of measure are MB/s, and higher values are better.
The screenshot below shows just the results for the Seagate GoFlex Slim 320GB drive, and we see that with transfers greater than 32KB in size, we can expect to see performance approaching 120MB/s.
The first chart shows results from the middle of the road of the various transfer sizes tested. At 64KB, we see that the GoFlex Slim just passes the 120MB/s mark while reading, and is about 30MB/s faster than the GoFlex Desk.
With 64KB writes, the drives perform about the same as they did while reading. The GoFlex Slim falls just shy of 120MB/s, but still outperforms the other USB 3.0 drive by about 30MB/s.
Moving up to the high end of transfer sizes, we have 8MB results. When it comes to reading, we see that not much changes when you go from 64KB up to 8MB. The GoFlex Slim dtill performs at about the 120MB/s level, and is still roughly 30MB/s faster than the GoFlex Desk.
In our final chart we have the write results for 8MB transfers. If the charts didn't have titles it might be hard to tell them apart, as each drive put up about the same numbers every test.
