Testing (continued):
HD Tune Pro v4.61:
Our next benchmark test is
HD Tune Pro v4.61. HD Tune is a disk utility that measures overall disk performance. For each disk, we connected it to the USB 3.0 cable and executed the benchmark. Units of measure are MB/s, and higher values are better. The results for our first two tests are slightly different than those we saw in the CrystalDiskMark tests. For minimum bandwidth, the Satellite drive came in last, but not by much. For maximum bandwidth, it came in last by a decent margin. The average benchmark once again reinforces this.
In our burst rate test the GoFlex Satellite drive fared much better, coming in with results closer to the Mac drive than the older GoFlex 500GB drive.
For testing overall access time and latency the unit of measure is milliseconds - again lower is better. In this instance, our Satellite drive responded the best - about 20% faster than the other two drives.
