Packaging and Accessories:
The
Seagate GoFlex Satellite came in the ever familiar GoFlex packaging in the lighter "Mac-friendly" design - as opposed to the darker black packaging used for the "regular" GoFlex drives and TV units. Nice, large images of both the product, its suggested usage, and supported devices are prominently displayed on both the front and back of the box.
The side panels of the package inform the consumer about the size of the Satellite unit, approximate battery life, contents of the box, and provide a run-down of the specifications and supported file types.
Opening the box reveals that our Seagate GoFlex Satellite ships in a secure plastic shell type of package with all of the pieces placed for minimal shifting during shipment. The actual drive is shown in the right side of the packaging under the connector cable and interface.
Included with the device is a handy Quick Start Guide that walks the consumer through charging and syncing the drive, as well as a Seagate Limited Warranty card.
The accessories that come with the Satellite are similar to other GoFlex drives with a few minor additions. First, in the lower left is the standard GoFlex to USB cable. For the Satellite, Seagate has upgraded the regular USB 2.0 connection to a USB 3.0 version. The other accessories include (clockwise from top left) a USB charging brick, USB to DC cable for charging the unit, and a USB car charging adapter. The addition of the car charger gives the consumer added value and extends the range of the device to the car for long road trips with the kids. Mom and Dad can stream music to their iPod, iPhone, or Android device while the kids watch movies on their own iPods, iPads, or other wireless devices.
