Software:
All software to connect the GoFlex Home to your home network is included on the CD. Running the installation application will step you through various questions to do the initial set-up. Most of the initial install screens are fairly typical, and provide plenty of information for the average user to know what is happening.
A few screens will require user input, and the first one allows the user to give the GoFlex Home a custom name (below left image). This name is how it will show up on the network. Naming is strictly up to the user, I personally like to name mine exactly what it is (ie GoFlex Home). The next screen requiring user input sets up the default / administrator account for the GoFlex Home (below right image). Enter a user ID, password (must contain at least 1 number), and an email address.
The final step is registering the GoFlex Home. The Serial Number is pre-entered for the user, simply select the country (there are quite a few listed) and enter an email address. After just a few minutes the GoFlex Home is ready to be used!
After completing the install, the user is presented with several options as shown in the below left image; Add Content, Add Users, Add Computers, and Launch Seagate Dashboard. Launching the Dashboard will provide these options as well.
The Dashboard will be how most people manage the GoFlex Home, and the main page is shown in the above right image. In simple terms, it will walk you through managing the device. The top row of icons is for managing content, users, and computers. The second row deals with several included applications.
