The AIDA 64 Extreme Edition utility has both a read and write benchmark, but because the write portion wipes any data on the test drive, we have chosen not to run it here. The read suite of tests looks at linear read speeds at both a beginning, middle, and end point. For our purposes we will skip the mid-point results, mostly because the numbers were virtually identical to the end results.
The read test results start just about where the ATTO test was, at about 175MB/s and finished up around 84MB/s - around the same 20% mark that we saw earlier. For some odd reason, the software kept reporting the average read score as zero. Numerous attempts to return a score failed. Random reads show around a 50% boost over the the GoFlex Desk more portable brethren, while the buffered read score are fairly close for all three drives.
