A few years back I reviewed the ecobee 3 smart thermostat, and while overall I was very happy with the unit, one issue I had was that it only came with one remote sensor. Since that time I have added four more sensors and have been quite happy with the performance and battery life. Recently ecobee released the Switch+ smart switch which has Amazon's Alexa built-in like the ecobee 4, replaces a standard SPST switch, and can act as a room sensor. I was eager to try one of these out so I ponied up the $100 on pre-order with Amazon.



Features and Specifications:

As mentioned above, this little switch packs quite a bit inside. There is built-in Alexa with microphone and speaker, a motion sensor, light sensor, temperature sensor, night light, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n @ 2.4GHz, and it is designed to be controlled through the ecobee app. In addition it can be integrated with HomeKit, Alexa, SmartThings, IFTTT, and Google assistant.

Since this is obviously designed to replace a standard wall switch (SPST), you can toggle your light locally. But you can also control it with Alexa voice commands, IFTTT, SmartThings, and via the ecobee app. It can handle loads of 600W incandescent or 150W LED or CFL, but it is not rated for inductive loads.
