Conclusion:
The
DXG USA DXG-595V HD video camera is a good entry level camera that offers some desired features for those looking for "point and shoot" simplicity. If more advanced control over the settings are desired, then this camera isn't for you. For a low cost camera, I was very pleased with the performance. It is extremely easy to use and produces decent video for the price. The still images it produces are good under optimal lighting, and can be taken at up to 5.0 megapixels. The integrated flash and LED light helps in low light situations.
The DXG-595V is a perfect camcorder for those that want a good quality camera without having to spend a lot of money. Kids that love to take pictures and videos would find this camera perfect as it allows them to get busy recording and sharing silly moments quickly.
An automatic lens cover would have been a nice feature, but it would obviously add to the cost. It could be said that the quality isn't great for 1080P, but keep in mind this is a low end camcorder. While my Canon SX20IS records 1080P video better, it is also almost three times the cost of the DXG-595V. Comparing the video quality on the DXG-595V to several similarly priced cameras, I would say that the DXG-595V performs remarkably well.
A quick search using
Google's shopping pages shows that just about the best price for the DXG-595V is
$149.99, which just happens to be at
Geeks.com. For this price, the camera is well worth considering by those that want a good quality camera without some of the refinements you might expect if you paid a good deal more.
