As is typical for Synology, the Diskstation DS414Slim came in a relatively minimalist box.
It has more details than printed on it than other Synology offerings, but there is still quite a bit less than you’d expect for a retail box.
On the plus side, the unit is well protected. Upon opening the top flaps you will find a small box which has the power supply cable wrapped in bubble wrap.
Removing that you can see the NAS, which is wrapped in foam then suspended in a cardboard frame. To the side there is another box that has a quick start guide, bag of screws and (2) Ethernet cables. Under the NAS there is a small baseplate that is also wrapped in foam.
In the past other Synology NAS servers were packed in foam, but this cardboard seems more than sufficient to protect the unit due to its light weight.
