To test the real world performance of the Kingwin Dock Master, two file types were selected. One folder containing 3.0GB of MP3 files (small files), and another 3.0GB ISO (large file) will be used for the test. The speeds will be timed with a stopwatch, which will be started when the mouse button is released to copy the files to the hard drive.
The first real world transfer test is using a 3.0 GB ISO. The Dock Master is quicker in writing the 3.0 GB ISO file by a large margin over either USB 2.0 connected device.
The next real world transfer test used 3.0 GB of multiple MP3 files. The Dock Master wrote at virtually the same speed as my SATA II internal drive. The difference between USB 3.0 vs USB 2.0 was an impressive 67 seconds, which may not sound like a huge difference but if there was a huge amount of data to be transferred, it would make a big difference in transfer time.
