The D-Link DCS-2530L HD 180-degree Wi-Fi camera has an incredible field of view which makes placement in your home very easy. Anywhere you put it, you can be sure you can see what is going on from wall to wall. Additionally the much smaller size of this camera makes it blend into your home or office environment better than the older DCS-2630L. The motion and sound detection are great features to have, but the big value added feature is the local recording. So not only is this camera cheaper than something like the Nest Cam, you will save at least $100/year by not having to subscribe to a service.



Overall this DCS-2530L offers great image quality, a wide field of view, and packs a lot of features into a small package. With a current sale price of around $160 at places like Newegg, this camera has some stiff competition from the older 2630L. Since the 2630L is no longer in production and is a year old, the prices have come down to the same $160 mark. With the prices being equal, the 2630L is a no brainer just for the PIR sensor alone, unless you have space constraints that make the 2530L a better fit. But with that said, when the stock runs out I would not hesitate to pick up a DCS-2530L. The lack of a PIR motion sensor, like found in the 2630L, really is the only negative to list for the 2530L.
