Testing (continued):
CrystalDiskMark 3.01.b:
CrystalDiskMark is capable of testing sequential and random data transfer speeds for standard rotational hard drives and flash memory (SSDs & USB flash drives). All tests in CrystalDiskMark were conducted using 4KB test blocks with 50MB test files. The Kingston DataTraveler HyperX 3.0 was evaluated for sequential and random read/write performance. Results are included for USB 3.0 and the older USB 2.0 standard.
CrystalDiskMark - Sequential Read Performance:
As you might expect the Kingston DataTraveler transfers data more than 4x faster when using USB 3.0 opposed to the bottlenecked USB 2.0 standard. Overall sequential read performance was measured to be 162MB/s (within 28% of the max. rated speed from Kingston).
CrystalDiskMark - Sequential Write Performance:
Sequential write performance comes in at 69MB/s (nearly 50% lower than the maximum rated speed of 135MB/s from Kingston). The conclusion to take away from these first 2 charts - It would be wasteful to purchase this device without having USB 3.0 connectivity on your system.
