Testing (continued):
ATTO Disk Benchmark v3.05:
The next benchmark software we will use is the ATTO disk benchmark; this software will test read and write speeds at a variety of sizes, and we will focus on some fairly small (64kB) and large (64MB) file sizes. As expected the small file read speed is somewhat slower than the quoted 530MB/s but at 523.5MB/s it is not far off. This time the speed difference to the top drive was a bit wider but this drive is approximately 15% faster than an earlier generation Crucial drive.
In this test the Crucial MX300 was tied for first place with a write speed of 505MB/s. Again this is somewhat less than their claims but that is to be expected with the smaller file size. Also comparing it to a previous generation shows this drive is over 45% faster!
In these final tests we will see how this drive performs with read and write speeds for larger files. The first up is 64MB read performance. Oddly enough the Crucial MX300 drive was the slowest drive and was even bested by Crucial's previous generation SSD. But the 528.6MB/s read speed does match up with Crucial's claimed 530MB/s.
In the large file write testing the Crucial Mx300 had the second best speed at 511.8 which again matches up with the claimed speed of 510MB/s. It is also over 45% faster than the older generation Crucial SSD.
