Packaging and Accessories:
The
Cougar Spike was delivered in the cardboard box shown below. Have you ever lifted something, and because you mistakenly expected it to weigh more, you nearly smash yourself in the face with it? That is pretty much what happened when I grabbed the box from the front steps. It isn't a big case, and the cardboard box isn't much bigger, but it weighs far less than I would have anticipated. The various panels of the box offer plenty of details regarding the Spike, and the sketches of the case provide a good idea of exactly what the case is like.
Inside the top flap of the box I found that Cougar has included one of their
120mm red LED fans as an added bonus. This is a 120x120x25mm fan rated for 1200RPM, 64.37CFM, and 16.6dB. This item is not included with the case when you buy it retail, but we'll install it later and show it off inside the case.
The image below shows the case removed from the box, but still sealed in a plastic bag and braced with two form-fitting styrofoam blocks. This method of packing cases is pretty standard, and it allowed this unit to make it here without damage.
The final image in this section shows the accessories that were found in a plastic bag inside the case. You get a manual, a PC speaker that mounts directly to your motherboard's header, and a bag of hardware including screws, standoffs, washers, etc.
