The Basics:
Cooler Master sent a pre-release version of the Sirus headset for review, which did not include the typical retail packaging. The promotional image below shows what buyer's should expect to see when they find this headset at their favorite store.
All panels of the box are covered with useful information regarding the headset and what they are capable of. However, our sample arrived in the box below, which did not include the printed information.
Inside the box, the headset is held in place in a form fitted plastic tray with a cardboard box behind the tray. While simple, this packaging is more than sufficient to keep the headset protected during shipment.
In the next picture the headphones have been extended to their maximum size, which involves extending each side by about 1.5 inches. They are rather large, which is a necessity in order to include the necessary components for 5.1 surround sound stereo audio. On the top of the headband is a large cushion which will help make them comfortable for long periods of time. In the below left image I have already swapped one of the fabric ear pads for one of the leather ear pads to show how they look when they are changed. The spare set of leather ear pads is shown in the below right image. The audio cord is sleeved in braided nylon, and it ends with a round 11-pin connector.
The below left image shows the microphone boom swung in to place. This boom is flexible so it can be placed in the best position possible to suit your tastes and head shape. Near the end of the boom is a red light which lights up when the microphone is in the on position. On the outside of the earpiece, the Cooler Master Storm logo lights up in red when the headset is receiving power. In addition to the logos on the sides, CM Storm is also printed on the top of the headband.
