Packaging and Accessories:
The Canary is sold in a compact retail box that gives you a good look at the device, as well as plenty of information about what it can do for you. One thing that surprised me was how solid the box felt... Expecting it to
only have an IP camera of sorts inside, I didn't expect it to be as heavy as it was.
The packaging is really done up nicely, and the decorative part shown above is a sleeve over a heavy weight cardboard box that was styled something like a gift box. Inside, the first thing you will see is the Canary itself, and a small stack of literature. What may not be obvious is that there is a custom cut shield of plastic over the face of the device, which should do a good job at protecting the camera lens.
The small stack of literature conceals the collection of accessories included with the device. As shown below you have a yellow audio cable, a USB to wall outlet adapter, two small booklets, a pair of Canary branded security stickers, and a rather nice USB cable.
The USB cable provides power to the device, and while it may make the most sense to use the power adapter included, because they are separate pieces you can get a little creative with your installation. The yellow audio cable might not make sense to the typical user, but it is for a novel approach to setting up the device. You connect the cable between your mobile phone and the Canary, and it serves as the communication path for the initial setup.
