HD Tach:
HD Tach was next run on the four configurations to be tested. The Thermaltake BlacX 5G put up a maximum burst speed between 136MB/s and 144MB/s depending on the drive that was used. Even at the slowest burst speed of 136.4MB/s it performed better than the other two devices used in the test.
The average read speed for the Seagate hard drive on the BlacX 5G was 106.2MB/s, which was better than the Kingwin DockMaster, but the GoFlex Desk 3TB drive performed slightly better at 109.1MB/s. Of course, neither could keep up with the read speed put up by the Kingston SSD.
Using a standard hard drive, the BlacX 5G received the worst score in the random access test. Here the result was 17.4ms, which is slightly slower than the Kingwin DockMaster which was 17.2ms. Testing the Kingston SSD though, the random access time was a quick 0.2ms.
