Testing (continued):
Speedtest.net Rating:
In the next set of tests, the adapters were used to not just access content on the local network, but to go out on the Web to test their speeds. I connected to
Speedtest.net and selected a local server sponsored by my ISP. The service I pay for from them is rated at 50Mbps down and 8Mbps up, so I was interested to see how close any of these wireless N network adapters could get to those speeds.
The first chart shows the down results, where we see the hard wired connection is able to exceeded my rated speed, while the wireless adapters come in much slower. It is interesting to note that the ASUS brand adapters are both 5Mbps or more faster than the Airlink101 adapter.
While the up results looked pretty bad for the Airlink101 adapter when pushing a file on the local network, here we see a virtual tie between all of the wireless adapters and the hard wired connection.
And for good measure we see that the latency for each wireless adapter was 10ns, while the hard wired Gigabit connection came in at 7ns.
