Performance
The performance is really subjective, but in my opinion they look fantastic. Even my highly critical wife thought they added a great touch of accent lighting to the front of the house, not too bright not too dim…just right. We have also had several of our neighbors ask us about the lights and where they could get them. Luckily these are easy to pick up at your local Home Depot so no one left disappointed. Except maybe the wife since we suspect we won’t be the only ones on the street with these lights soon.
Plugging these into the GE 13868 Plug-In Outdoor Smart Switch makes the perfect pairing. You can easily schedule these to come on at consistent times, on demand, randomly etc. We have decided to have ours come on at sunset and run till 10:45.
Long term durability is likely to be excellent. I accidentally tested the crushproof capabilities of the bulbs while hanging them. They withstood 220 pounds standing on concrete. With the heavy gauge wiring used I can’t foresee any long term issues with these.
Conclusion:
Overall I am ecstatic with these Enbrighten Café Lights. They are a little pricey at $60 for a 24 foot strand, but I think the end result is worth it. They really have a high end look and are super easy to install. I think eventually I will be adding a few strands out by the pool for some accent lighting as well. The only issue I could see is finding the right length so you don’t have to rely on the main cable being flexible enough to loop between lights. In the end these lights saved me a lot of money and effort. Had these not looked as good as they do my wife was set on running low voltage lights around the front of the house. My initial estimate to do this myself was around $250 and a full weekend to trench the wire and get it under a concrete walkway. So these Jasco Enbrighten Café Lights are a win win for me.
Pros:
» Well made with a lifetime bulb warranty
» Super easy to install
» Bulb has an artisan blow glass look
Cons:
» Main wire is very heavy duty which makes flexibility an issue.
» Some (my wife) might wish they came in white to color coordinate with house trim
