Conclusion:

Overall I am pretty happy with these cameras and NVR. I do wish the EXIR night vision was more of a leap forward than an incremental step in performance. The system is easy to install, set up, customize, and use. But at current price of $680 at Amazon (after using a $120 coupon code found on the page), is it worth it? I am not so sure. While this price is in line with other 4K systems, there are a few too many little issues that would keep me from fully recommending this system to everyone. While it does work well, the excessive recordings due to noise could be an issue for those that frequently have to review the old footage. But if you are like most users, you will set this up and forget about it unless something unfortunate happens and you need to confirm when and where it occurred. For those users this might be an acceptable trade off. The camera resolution both day and night are very good and so far durability has been good despite a few build concerns early on.

If you are really in the market for a 4K system I would head over to BJ’s and get yourself a membership if you don’t already have one. They have an 8-channel version of the NVR with the same four cameras for just $599! Granted this only comes with four of the 4K cameras, but it gives you more options for the future since many people will need more than four cameras to cover their home and yard. But I do find it somewhat peculiar that I can’t find additional 4K cameras for sale anywhere. So, with that said I tried to connect my Husky PoE camera to my NVR to see if it would work, it doesn’t. This was a big disappointment since I can see many instances where a mix of 4K and 1080p cameras would be perfect. Maybe this could be changed in a future firmware upgrade for the 8-channel unit, but even if that never happens the cost of a BJ’s membership and the system are still cheaper than you can buy this elsewhere.

Great Idea

Pros:

» Incredible camera resolution.
» NVR works with aftermarket wireless mouse
» Easy integration with app so you can see it with your other EZVIZ cameras.
» Comes with everything you need to get it connected.
» Cameras are IP67
» Lifetime tech support and 12-month warranty
» Price through BJ’s is very good.

Cons:

» Other EZVIZ PoE cameras can’t be connected to NVR.
» Would like to see separate sensitivity settings for day and night.
» Some initial build quality concerns.
» No NVR manual available.
