About a year ago we were introduced to EZVIZ when we reviewed their Mini Plus and Husky 1080P cameras. We were impressed with the security, image and build quality. Both of these cameras required wires to function, and now EZVIZ has a new offering, the Mini Trooper, which uses a battery operated camera. The camera connects to a base station by Wi-Fi and promises up to 9 months of battery life. So let's see if this new system lives up to the same level of performance we came to expect from EZVIZ.

The Mini Trooper Wi-Fi security camera starter system comes with an oddly shaped base unit that looks like some kind of winged insect when the antennas are deployed, as well as a bullet style camera that is roughly the size and shape of an egg. Starting with the base (CS-W2S-A1); you'll find it has dual band Wi-Fi capabilities, supports local recording on a microSD card up to 128GB, can sync (6) wireless cameras and has a wired Ethernet port. The cameras are completely wireless and run on CR123A batteries. It boasts a 115 degree field of view, 720P resolution, it is IP65 rated so it is weatherproof, has a passive infrared sensor, 25 feet of night vision capability, and audio recording. All of these features while claiming to provide up to 9 months of battery life! As with other EZVIZ products, you interface with the device through their free app which features multi-layer security and end to end video encryption.
