Conclusion:
Some people figure they aren’t at risk since they don’t care if someone gains access to their smart fridge or other IoT devices. But often these hackers look for the weak links in your network to leverage them against other more vital network devices. The truth is we all need to take network security seriously; the problem is most people have no idea what they can or should do. This is where devices like the
Dojo come in. While they are not failsafe, they are a good first step towards securing your network.
The field of home security is getting more and more crowded and one has to weigh the benefits of each of these systems to see what best fits their current needs and their possible future needs. Dojo by Bullguard is currently selling on
Amazon for $199, and comes with a one year warranty and service subscription. After a year, service is either $9.99/month or $99/year. This is in-line with the Cujo unit, but about double the generation one Bitdefender Box cost. Cujo offers both router and bridge mode and has some additional features that may be useful to some. For instance, Cujo has fairly good parental/device control, something that is currently missing in Dojo. And The Bitdefender Box offers you their security suite for all of your devices including a VPN. So this means you can ensure continued protection of your devices off your home network. But being that Dojo is owned by Bullguard, maybe this is something that will be added in the future since they already have it in their portfolio - but who knows.
Overall the Dojo by Bullguard does some things better than the competition, but it does fall short in a few places. For the same investment or less you can get a little more for your money. But the platform appears to be solid and hopefully they can close the gap and make this a more viable option soon. In the end, having more security options makes us all better off.
