Removing the dashcams from the box you immediately notice they feel quite solid and appear to be made of quality materials. First we will take a look at the forward facing cam which is the main camera in this system. The camera itself is housed in a small cylinder (approx 36mm in diameter x 119mm long) and it attaches to the mounts bore. The mount has a lock button which you need to press if you want to remove the camera. Otherwise the camera is free to rotate in its detentes. On the opposite end is the camera lens, which protrudes slightly (approx 4mm) from the cylinder shape. On the mount end of the cylinder there is the main power connection, power to rear cam, microSD slot and format/Wi-Fi button. The other end has an LED for Wi-Fi status and a prox sensor. On the side opposite the lens (facing driver) there is a speaker and LED status for GPS and recording.
The rear camera has a very similar design, but is slightly smaller in stature (approx 25mm in diameter x 67mm long). Again the device can rotate within the bore of the mount but there are no detentes. Since the recording is done in the main camera this unit just has a single connection for power and signal. On the side opposite the lens there is an LED indicator to allow the driver to see the rear dashcam is functioning.
The Power Magic Pro construction does not quite live up to the rest of the BlackVue offering. Differences like plastic used and switch selection just feel a bit cheap. Even the label on the top is slightly askew. So long as this works I would rather they cut a few corners on this than the dashcam though. Luckily this little box will be tucked away out of site.
The top of the box has a sticker to help you determine dip switch positions even if you lost the manual. The side of the enclosure houses the dip switches, an LED, and an on/off switch for parking mode. The opposite side has the connector for the supplied harness. There are also two holes provided to screw this somewhere in your vehicle or you can use the supplied double stick tape.
