Conclusion
The
D-Link DCS-2210L HD PoE IP camera itself has great resolution and if you are not placing it in a darker room with a larger percentage of dark objects the auto day/night feature works well. The PoE capability makes placement easier since you don’t need a power source nearby, and since it uses a wired network connection I saw no drops in framerate or resolution. It is also reassuring that D-Link is continuing to update their firmware and app. I just wish the app/web portal experience was more cohesive. It is also frustrating that updated Chrome and Firefox browsers had issues with D-Link’s web portal. Overall I think this camera performs very well and once set up these issues with the browser errors becomes less important.
Currently this camera is available for around $220 from many popular online retailers. This may seem steep for a non PTZ camera, but when you consider the 1080P Nest cam is $200 and doesn’t have PoE, PIR, local recording, or the ability to record your stream to a NAS or NVR, the price seems very competitive. Really it just comes down to what you need. If you are planning on running cameras to remote locations in your home / office, it is much easier to pull a single Ethernet cable than messing with power, too. If you have a NAS or NVR already, then this camera can save you lots of money compared to a Nest cam which requires you to subscribe to their cloud storage solution.
In the end, the
D-Link DCS-2210L HD PoE IP camera earns the Bigbruin.com "Recommended" award.

» App is easy to use to access your live feed from anywhere.
» Easy remote access to recorded clips or still images.
» PIR virtually eliminates false motion events.
» PoE makes install a breeze and ensures consistent connections.
» Local recording adds redundancy.
» Control over your own stream to record local and save you monthly fees.
Cons:
» Can’t set sound as an event.
» mydlink Home and mydlink Lite apps need to be merged.
» Now the Home version supports this camera but it still doesn’t support all D-Link devices.
» Mydlink web portal needs to be updated to eliminate random issues with Chrome and FF non support.
» Overall they just need to make the user experience more cohesive.
