Today we are looking at the D-Link DCS-2210L camera. This is a full high definition (HD) Power over Ethernet (PoE) network camera that is geared towards small businesses. This camera has a 2 MP sensor capable of 1080P resolution, two way audio, PIR (passive infrared) motion sensor, local recording to microSD card and a 103 degree field of view. The review sample we will be checking out was provided by D-Link along with their DGS-1210-10P PoE switch, so that we could test it to its full capabilities.

The D-Link DCS-2210L has just about every feature one might be looking for with one exception; it is wired only. If you want/need wireless you need to step up to the DCS-2230 but you will give up the PoE. But, for many like myself, a PoE camera offers a lot a flexibility since you only need to run a single cable and you don’t have to worry about wireless signal strength where you want to mount the camera. The 2MP CMOS sensor has a 103 degree field of view with a f2.0 fixed lens. To aid low light conditions the camera has an IR LED which can illuminate up to 15 feet allowing you to see in complete darkness. The camera also has a PIR sensor which can more accurately detect motion. If motion is detected you can choose to get alerts and or record video. The video can be recorded locally on the microSD card or remotely. Whether triggered by an alert or just curious about what you camera is seeing you can access a live feed through a web browser or via D-Link apps. If you notice your dog on the couch you can use the 2 way audio feature to try to get them off. Another useful feature is the integration possibilities using the digital input and output.
