Testing (continued):
Everest Ultimate Edition 5.50:
Beginning the benchmarks in Everest is a Linear Read test. While it will provide Beginning, Middle, and End results, the Beginning and End is what will be focused on. At the beginning of the benchmark the three drives performed decently, however the GoFlex Desk performed the best. Outperforming the FreeAgent Go by about 0.6MB/s and the Western Digital My Book by about 4MB/s.
At USB 2.0 speeds, all three drives remained fairly constant. However, during the USB 3.0 test on the GoFlex Desk, speeds dropped dramatically by the end of the test. This matches with the charts created by HD Tach (not shown). It performs great, but drops off after it reads past 2TB.
Next we'll take a look at the Random Read benchmark. Both Seagate drives performed identically at USB 2.0 speeds, which is just a little faster than the Western Digital My Book (by close to 2 MB/s).
The Buffered Read benchmark echos the previous tests. The Seagate drives received nearly identical speeds, while the Western Digital fell behind by just over 3 MB/s.
