Xclio Stable Power 1000W Power Supply
|
Conclusion:
Over the course of my testing, the Xclio Stable Power 1000W Power Supply has served admirably and did not have any failures or other performance issues. It has provided stable, silent power to the test system, and unlike its little brother (the Stable Power 500W), I have not noticed the hot air coming out of the back. The computer room has returned to its normal 18-20 degrees Celsius range, and that is a welcomed change.
I really only have two complaints regarding this power supply. The first is that while the cable wrapping that is provided is very nice, they failed to wrap between the connectors and did not begin the wrapping inside the power supply. The second is that I would like to see more SATA and/or 4-pin drive connectors. Just one more 'line' of additional connectors would be sufficient in my opinion.
A search of PriceGrabber shows the Xclio Stable Power 1000W Power Supply only available at Newegg.com. The Newegg.com price of $379.99 puts it near the top of the 1000W power supplies I have tested, but it is not the quite the most expensive.
Given the solid performance, and features like Active PFC and an 80% efficiency, I award the Xclio Stable Power 1000W Power Supply the rating of "Recommended".
Pros:
» Silent
» Powerful and stable
» Active PFC
» High efficiency
» Standard form factor
Cons:
» Cables not entirely wrapped
» No protection around cables exiting power supply
» Need more power connectors (one more rail of SATA)
» Expensive
