Packaging:
Similar to the Stable Power 500W, the Xclio Stable Power 1000W Power Supply comes in a non-descript box. However, instead of the black and yellow box that accompanied the 500W unit, this model comes in a blue book style box. The main portion of the box slides out of a sleeve and opens like a book, which reveals the power supply nestled in some form fitted plastic foam. The cables are neatly separated from the power supply so there is little chance of any damage or scratches to the unit.
External Examination:
Once the power supply is removed from its packaging, the similarities between the Stable Power 500W and 1000W units are striking. They generally look identical, and the same 140mm 11 bladed case fan is used in both. Other than the obvious difference in power rating, there are only two differences between these power supplies. The first difference was very minor and to be expected; the labels are different.
The other difference between the power supplies is that the 1000W model includes a power indicator.
If the system is powered on and the power supply is working properly, the indicator will be green. A red indicator means the power supply is receiving power, however the system is not turned on. At least that's what I believe they mean, as I was not able to find any mention of this indicator in the manual or on Xclio's website.
