Xclio Wind Tunnel Extreme Cooling PC Case
August 31, 2007

Installation and Operation (continued):

Powering on the Xclio Wind Tunnel for the first time is quite a treat. On that vertical stripe found on the front panel is where some blue LEDs shine through. From top to bottom in the below left image there is an Xclio logo, the digital readout from the thermal probe, and the power and hard drive activity LEDs. To the left of these features you can see the power LEDs for both 25cm fans. The side panel that houses the dual 25cm fans looks awesome when all lit up (below right image). The grill reminds me of the entrance to Batman the Ride at Six Flags Great Adventure. The blue LEDs from the fans shine through all of the ventilation holes throughout the case.

Testing:

Testing the Xclio Wind Tunnel Extreme Cooling PC Case consisted of using the built in thermal probe to monitor the temperature of the motherboard's chipset with the 25cm fans a variety of configurations.

The first configuration was with the side panel removed, the second was with the side panel on but with the fans off, the third test was with the side panel on and the fans on low, and the final test was with the side panel on and the fans on high.

The chart below shows the idle and load temperatures measured from the thermal probe inserted into the base of the fins on a Thermalright HR-05 IFX SLI chipset cooler. The idle condition was established by powering the system with no applications running for a period of at least 30 minutes. The load condition was established by running Orthos for a period of at least 60 minutes. All tests were conducted while maintaining an ambient temperature of about 28 degrees Celsius.

As you can see from the chart above, the dual 25cm fans work great. Whether the fans are on high or low speed, the system is still cooler than if the side panel was removed. The fans move air so well that regardless of fan speed, or if the system is at idle or under full load, there is a negligible change in temperature. And whether the fans run at high or low speed, there is virtually no noise.
