The following data on the 320GB Scorpio was taken from the Western Digital website.
As mentioned in the introduction, the main advances are the increase in capacity from 250GB to 320GB, and the switch from a 1.5Gbps to 3Gbps transfer rate. The bulk of the other specifications seem to have remained unchanged; including the seek time, rotational speed, noise production, and power requirements. While 5400RPM proved to be more than adequate for solid performance on the 250GB model, it would have been interesting to see the Scorpio 320GB run at 7200RPM. While the performance boost could be quite impressive, the extra speed would require that extra design work go into dealing with noise, heat, and power consumption.
