Installation:

The OCZ Technology Vendetta 2 CPU Cooler was installed in a system with the following components for this review:

» Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 Dual Core processor
» ASUS P5KC P35 ATX motherboard
» Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD7500AAKS 750GB hard drive
» Aeneon XTUNE 2GB DDR2-1142 dual channel memory
» PC Power and Cooling 750 Quad Silencer power supply
» Windows Vista Home Premium

Installations with this type of push pin mount for Intel coolers are generally rather simple. But considering the size of the Vendetta 2, I would recommend attaching it to your motherboard prior to installing the board into the case. Unless you have a rather large case with plenty of room around the CPU socket, you may find pushing the pins through the holes on the board a bit tricky. The heatsink fins overhang the tops of the pins, and I could not get my fingers in there easily. This issue existed with the original Vendetta which is much smaller, but it is even tougher on the Vendetta 2.

Another issue I encountered was while attaching the fan to the cooler. It uses rubber mounts instead of screws or clips in order to reduce noise from vibration. I wound up ripping the tops off of two of them while trying to thread them through the holes on the fan because it was such a tight fit. In the end I wound up getting them all installed, but I had to use a small screwdriver to push the ripped stubs into the holes.
