Ultra Products ChillTec Thermo Electric CPU Cooler
|
The Basics:
The images below show that the cooler is shrouded with brushed aluminum that has been painted black and embossed with the Ultra logo.
The end view in the image below shows the cooling fan. This is a 92mm blue LED Ultra Products brand fan that has a rating of 2000 to 2800 RPM. It is unclear whether there is an easy way to change the fan, but it can be done by removing the shroud of the cooler.
The aluminum fins are visible by turning to the exhaust side of the cooler (below left image). These large fins should provide ample area for heat exchange. The bottom of the aluminum fins are visible in the below right image, and in this view it is clear that there are two sets of fins. Looking closely at the heat pipes reveals that they are on two different levels, with each set of heat pipes / levels going to a different set of aluminum fins.
The base of the cooler is made up of four different pieces sandwiched together, with some space between the bottom two pieces and the top two pieces (below left image). The power and sensor cables are visible when the base is viewed from the other side (below right image). The fan cable is hard wired to the other cables and does not allow you to change the fan unless you cut it and rewire a new fan! A standard two/three pin fan connector would have been much better. Also visible are two power cables going to the base, along with a thermal lead.
The base of the cooler does not have a mirror finish and appears to have some minor imperfections which can not be felt when running my fingers across them. The thermal probe attached to the base of the cooler is also visible in this image; I wish every cooler would include some form of built-in thermal probe, as it would solve the issue of placing a thermal lead in different locations.
