Thermaltake LANBOX VF1000BWS mATX Case
April 24, 2007

Conclusion:

Thanks to the compact design and portability, the Thermaltake LANBOX VF1000BWS mATX Case lives up to its name as an excellent choice for those frequenting LAN parties. Installation is easy thanks to various design features found in the case, and cooling is well taken care of by the inclusion of three quiet case fans. Once you have your gear loaded up and ready to go, the two side windows will make sure it all gets noticed once you arrive at the LAN party.

One idea for an upgrade that comes to mind is related to how you would transport the cables and accessories that you would need for a LAN party. A nice optional accessory to make it easier and cooler than stuffing everything else into a backpack, would be some sort of cable management system included with the LANBOX.

On the downside, the case is not tool-less when it comes to most hardware components to be installed, but it does have thumbscrews to remove specific cages. I like the design of modular cages and the removable motherboard tray, which prevents you from having to remove unnecessary components to get to another.

A search for the Thermaltake LANBOX VF1000BWS mATX Case on PriceGrabber finds many results with prices ranging from around $120 to $130.00 (US) at various online retailers. This price is a little on the high side considering it is a compact mATX chassis, but well worth it if you need an easily portable system with refined features.

Based on my review of the Thermaltake LANBOX VF1000BWS mATX Case I give it the awards of "Highly Recommended", "Gaming Apprived", and "Whisper Quiet" for its ease of use, portability, and extremely quiet operation.

» Modular cages for easy assembly
» Removable motherboard tray
» Quiet operation
» Handle for easy portability
» Three fans included (2x60mm, 1x90mm)
