Thermaltake iXoft R15ON02 Notebook Cooling Pad
May 28, 2007

The Basics:

There are no accessories required with this laptop cooler, so all you find inside is the iXoft itself. As shown below, the review sample was provided in white, but a black version is also available.

The pad itself is fairly large, measuring 300mm x 230mm, which is around 12" x 9". The features for the iXoft claim it is compatible with laptops with up to 17" screens, and based on how it worked with a 15" unit I would agree.

The top surface is smooth, perhaps nylon, and the edges are stitched through a heavy weight woven tape. It definitely seems to be constructed for durability, but it is flexible enough to be folded when the guts are in either the solid or liquid state.

The bottom side of the iXoft is covered in a soft material, something like a fine corduroy; a material I definitely would not associate with electronics cooling. The under side of the embroidered tag reads "Designed in USA", which is something I hope to end up being proud of. All things considered, the external appearances of the iXoft seems more like a high end kitchen item, or an arts and crafts project, than it does a high tech computer cooling product.
