Corsair Flash Survivor GT 8GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive
|
The Basics:
The image below shows everything that is included. There is the Corsair Flash Survivor GT 8GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive itself, a rather robust USB extension cable, and a military style dog tag embossed with the Corsair logo.
While the dog tag may just be a goofy freebie intended to tie in with the tough theme of the product, it does provide a key ring that would allow the owner to wear their flash drive around their neck for safe keeping. Just one suggestion... If you are going to use the key ring on the Survivor, be sure to clip it to the end of the unit that is connected to the drive. There are loops that will receive the key ring on either end, so if the housing should open you could either be left with the empty shell or the actual drive.
The images below provide a look at the Corsair Flash Survivor GT 8GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive, which may better explain the suggestion above about having two locations for attaching the key ring. Additionally, it can be seen that the housing is machined from aluminum with a molded rubber "shock dampening collar" on either end. The shell is threaded, and when completely closed an o-ring provides the water proof seal that should keep your drive dry down to a depth of 200 meters. Its appearance reminds me of a waterproof match case I had back in the days of Boy Scouts.
The images below show the business end of the Survivor GT on its own. The actual body of the drive is rather narrow, but perhaps a bit longer than a typical flash drive. Considering the large threaded portion is permanently attached, the bare drive is much longer and wider than other brands/models. When fully assembled in the protective housing, you are dealing with something that is much bigger, bulkier, and heavier than a typical flash drive.
Looking at the above left image shows a small dot to the left of Corsair's logo. This is a vibrant blue LED that illuminates while the drive is active.
