Super Talent Godfather Flash Drive
|
Conclusion:
I am not exactly sure how a huge classic movie like the Godfather ties into something like a super tiny flash drive, but Super Talent has made the connection. The drive has a unique appearance and includes a bunch of images that should appeal to the Godfather fans out there. Novelty aside, the drive still takes care of the important things by being super compact, offering decent transfer rates, and by being available in a wide range of capacities (1GB - 16GB).
These "Chiclet" style flash drives might not be able to offer the performance you can get from some of today's higher end models that incorporate things like dual channel technology, but the Godfather's performance did exceed expectations. Compared to three other flash drives, the write speeds were particularly good and the time it took to launch a handful of applications was also above average.
Searching the Internet finds the Godfather series of flash drives at a variety of online retailers, and the prices aren't out of line. I assumed the Godfather tie-in would boost the price to a point where it would be hard to justify buying one, but luckily that isn't the case. Taking a look at Newegg.com for example, the 8GB Godfather drive sells for $21.99 while the same drive minus the Godfather features (the Pico D) is listed at $19.99.
The Godfather may just be an existing Super Talent product with a novel twist, but it is a pretty good flash drive. It is very small physically, but is available in fairly large capacities, and in the end it earns the Bigbruin.com "Recommended" award.
Pros:
» Super compact
» Decent transfer rates
» Available in 1GB to 16GB capacities
» Novel tie-in with the Godfather movie
» Reasonably priced
Cons:
» Hinge seemed a bit loose
» Slightly elevated price for the novelty
