Accessories:
The Sapphire Radeon HD4870 512MB graphics card comes with a variety of accessories, and the next several images will detail all of them. In the below left image we see the hardware related items, which include two 4-pin drive to 6-pin PCI Express power adapters, a DVI to HDMI adapter, a DVI to 15-pin VGA adapter, an s-video to composite adapter, CrossFire bridge, and an s-video to component adapter. You are pretty well setup to output images to any type of display, and the included power adapters insure that as long as your power supply has enough juice that you should be able to power this card.
The above right image shows the bulk of the remaining accessories. There is a user's manual, a drivers disk, a 3DMark06 disk, a PowerDVD disk, a DVD Suite disk, and a disk with something called Ruby ROM Volume II. We'll check that out a bit more, along with the software included on the flash drive shown below. Packed in a small box is a 2GB USB flash drive labeled as the "Sapphire USB Sampler". This is another new item to me, and I hope it is packed with interesting titles.
Software:
Of the various disks (and USB flash drive) provided I was most intrigued by the Sapphire USB Sampler and the Ruby ROM disk. The below left image shows the main page of the Sampler, while the below right image shows the main page of the Ruby ROM. Other than a couple of wallpapers, the Sampler simply provides a few videos. Even the "Gaming Demo" is just a video, so overall there isn't much to get excited about.
The Ruby ROM is a bit more interesting, but definitely not a factor that might influence your buying decision. There are a few games and applications included, but they are just demos or items otherwise available online. The below left image lists the games available, and I initially thought they were full versions and proceeded to install Stranglehold until I got to the point which made it clear that it was just a demo. The applications tab is shown in the below right image, which shows that the disk includes EarthSim and GameShadow.
There are a few other items on the disk, but these images show the highlights, unless you are the type to be interested in a high-res wallpaper of AMD's Phenom processor.
