Sapphire Toxic Radeon HD4850 512MB Graphics Card
September 15, 2008

Testing (continued):

The tests to be executed include one synthetic benchmark, four 3D games with built-in benchmarking applications, thermal testing, and power consumption testing. Each card was run through the following tests, and the system was rebooted between each run.

» FutureMark 3DMark Vantage
» Devil May Cry
» PT Boats - Knights of the Sea
» Call of Juarez
» Track Mania Nations Forever
» Thermal Testing
» Power Consumption Testing

FutureMark 3DMark Vantage:

The complete suite of tests was executed in FutureMark's 3DMark Vantage at a resolution of 1280x1024, with high settings, and in "Performance" mode. The CPU, GPU, and Total scores are reported in the chart below, and higher is better for all results.

What we see is that the Toxic Radeon HD4850 provides a significant boost over an overclocked HD3870, but that it trails the HD4870 and HD3870 X2 by a smaller margin. The performance is solid, and based on the ballpark prices of these cards, the Toxic HD4850 seems to offer quite a bang for the buck.
