In Use (continued):
There is also a rotate button that allows you to convert landscape images to portrait mode, or vice versa. The frame is capable of being positioned in either orientation physically, so it is useful to be able to adjust the images so that they all match.
Copying images to the internal memory is another area worth discussing. In the beginning of the review I mentioned my wish list item of being able to batch transfer files from a PC to the frame via USB. I confirmed that the USB connection is only for flash drive use, and you can not simply copy all files over to the frame. You must load each image individually, hit the copy button, confirm your request, wait a bit as it copies, and then select the next image to copy and start the process over again. It isn't particularly convenient, and given the greater capacity of flash media on hand, I pretty much gave up on using it. I could see it being worth while if the frame was a gift, and you just wanted to load it up before handing it over.
Conclusion:
The Rosewill RDF-670B 7" Widescreen Digital Photo Frame may lack some of the refinement you might expect from a high end LCD photo frame, but the image quality is very good at a reasonable viewing distance, the ability to use a variety of media sources provides flexibility, the integrated MP3 player is an interesting little bonus, and the price is definitely appealing.
A search of PriceGrabber turns up nothing on the Rosewill RDF-670B, but checking their associated retailers, Newegg and Chief Value, shows that the price is about $70 (US). While this price is definitely competitive with other similar products, a $20 rebate available from Newegg makes the frame an excellent deal. Unfortunately the current rebate ends November 13, 2007, the day the review was published... but maybe they'll run another one some time soon. For those interested in stepping up in terms of size and price, Rosewill does offer 8" and 10" digital photo frames which are also in stock at Newegg and Chief Value.
Considering the price and performance, the Rosewill RDF-670B 7" Widescreen Digital Photo Frame is worth considering by anyone interested in a budget conscious digital photo frame, and earns the awards of "Recommended" and "Good Value".
