OCZ Technology SLI-Ready 2GB DDR3-2000 Memory Kit
December 23, 2008

Testing:

For the testing portion of the review I set the EPP to Expert so that I could overclock the FSB to 1600MHz, and give the system 3.6GHz of processing power.

The test system listed in the "Configuration" section was used for the execution of all benchmarks, which include tests from these packages:

» Super PI
» Lavalys Everest Ultimate Edition
» SiSoftware Sandra Lite 2008 SP2c
» Performance Test v6.1

The OCZ Technology SLI-Ready 2GB DDR3-2000 dual channel memory kit was tested along with the following memory kit:

» Kingston HyperX 2GB DDR3-1800 memory kit

Comparing a DDR3-2000 kit against a DDR3-1800 kit isn't apples to apples, but the HyperX kit was able to overclock to 1920MHz. The list below shows the four configurations used for testing the two kits. Each kit was run at 1800MHz, the Kingston kit was run at its maximum speed of 1920MHz, and the OCZ Technology kit was also run at its rated speed of 2000MHz.

» OCZ SLI-Ready 2GB DDR3-2000 @ 2000MHz 9-9-9-28, 1.8V
» OCZ SLI-Ready 2GB DDR3-2000 @ 1800MHz 8-8-8-24, 1.8V
» Kingston HyperX 2GB DDR3-1800 @ 1920MHz 8-8-8-24, 1.9V
» Kingston HyperX 2GB DDR3-1800 @ 1800MHz 8-8-8-24, 1.9V

Lavalys Everest Ultimate Edition:

Everest Ultimate Edition was used to provide four sets of results: memory read speed (in MB/s), memory write speed (in MB/s), memory copy speed (in MB/s), and memory latency (in ns). Higher values are better for memory read, write, and copy speeds, while lower values are desirable for latency.

Chart

Taking a look at the chart above you can tell that tighter timings lead to better scores than higher speeds. When looking at the Kingston and OCZ Technology kits at 1800MHz they are just about identical, except for the copy benchmark where the OCZ Technology kit is about 400 points lower. The clear winner of the Everest benchmark is the Kingston kit at 1920MHz.
